The United Community Foundation’s weekly volleyball games provide a lively and inclusive environment where refugees and migrants can stay active, connect with others, and strengthen their sense of community. Volleyball is not only a fun and accessible sport but also a powerful way to improve physical fitness, including endurance, balance, flexibility, and coordination. At the same time, it supports mental well-being by reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging a positive mindset.

Beyond the physical health benefits, our volleyball program fosters meaningful community engagement. The team-based nature of the game encourages communication, cooperation, and shared responsibility, giving participants the chance to practice leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making in a supportive setting. Each match creates opportunities for building friendships, crossing cultural boundaries, and developing trust through teamwork and mutual respect.

Through volleyball, participants experience more than just sport—they gain a sense of belonging, resilience, and unity that strengthens connections both on and off the court. These sessions demonstrate the role of sport as a catalyst for personal growth and social inclusion, bringing people together across diverse backgrounds.
